1951: Use of the airfield from French, Canadian and US Military

1958: Use as a NATO base

1997: Movement of the NATO fleet and suspension of flight operations

2003: Acquisition through the TRIWO Group

2003: Declaration as an industrial area and usage of the airfield as an automotive testing center through Opel AG

2015: Operation through TRIWO as a manufacturer independent automotive proving ground


Current Use:

December 2019: Planning permission granted for 1st extension of the test tracks

2020: Start of construction work on the entire site

September 2020: Expansion of the dry handling course

Spring 2021: Completion of customer workshop building “Building 281” and the wet handling course

Fall 2021: Completion and commissioning of the new test tracks

August 2023: Expansion and optimization of the run-off zones on the wet handling course

September 2023: High-precision refurbishment of the “highway” express lane

July 2024: Completion of the new customer workshop building “Building 282” with 6 workshop units for permanent tenants

August 2024: Certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015
